Partnership with Petrobras will allow greater efficiency in production simulation of the pre-salt layer

Petrobras signed a partnership with the Centre for mathematical sciences applied to industry (CeMEAI), in São Carlos, São Paulo, in order to perform a simulation of the production in the pre-salt layer and increase the efficiency of oil extraction. The study has 14 researchers, in addition to a super computer donated by the University of São Paulo (USP), which is the fastest equipment installed for scientific use in the State of Sao Paulo.

The research proposal is to indicate what is the best mechanism for the oil and gas are extracted from the pre-salt fields: water injection, depressurization or injection of chemical compounds. The Brazilian pre-salt areas dealing with 700 to 800 km long by 150 to 200 km wide and up to 1 km thick and represent a major challenge for research, since the shells are currently much lower simulated in your extension.

The research, which has passed through the sieve of the national agency of petroleum, gas and Biofuels (ANP), has estimated to deliver results in about four years. Certainty is that this type of study and investment bring advances for Brazilian oil extraction as well as progress for Brazil.
