Petrobras adopts preventive measures against coronavirus
Last Thursday, 19, Petrobras announced new measures to help contain the coronavirus in its operations, expanding actions announced since last week. The state had previously reported that it would reduce its administrative staff by 50%, among other actions, such as temperature measurement for workers at the time of shipment to offshore platforms.
Now, following a publication by the National Agency for Oil, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP) and other government agencies for prevention in offshore operations in the oil and gas sector, the state said it will "immediately take actions to safely reduce and adjustments to the work scale in their marine units."
Among these actions, there is a staff reduced to the minimum necessary in offshore units, with guaranteed safety; a special stopover for the teams that will continue to board – considering previous isolation of seven days in a hotel made available by Petrobras, 21 days on board and 14 days off. According to Petrobras, the measures will reduce the movement of people, shift changes and the number of flights to platforms, consequently reducing exposure to the risk of contagion.
The company did not say, however, whether the reduction in staff and temporary insulation will reduce the company's production.
