Petrobras signed an agreement with the Brazilian Navy and supported by ANP (National Agency for Petroleum, Natural Gas and biofuels) to support scientific missions in Brazil's maritime territory and Antarctica. The partnership aims at scientific development, with a focus on research and technology, to enable the exploitation and sustainable use of marine resources.
"The investment of around R $400 million will provide continuity of research in the ' Brazilian blue Amazon ' and the Antarctic continent, two projects extremely important for Petrobras and Brazil," said Petrobras President Roberto Castello Branco, during the signing ceremony of the terms of cooperation, at Cenpes (Research and Development Center Leopoldo Américo Miguez de Mello), in Rio de Janeiro.
The new cooperation agreement between Petrobras and the Navy guarantees for another five years the support of the State in the scientific missions of the sectoral plan for the resources of the Sea (PSRM) and the Brazilian Antarctic Program (Proantar), which are coordinated by the secretariat of Interministerial Commission for Sea Resources (SECIRM).
