Petrobras prepares to hire the largest platform in Brazil

Sources with knowledge of the matter told Reuters that Petrobras is already preparing to contract what should be Brazil's largest oil rig for the giant Buzios field in the pre-salt Santos Basin. The state-owned company expects the structure to be a floating FPSO-type unit capable of processing 225,000 barrels per day.

According to the sources, it is the largest platform ever contracted in Brazil to date, by Equinor, for the Cod field, and the state plans to open competition in rental model, by the end of August.

In addition, about ten companies were pre-qualified by Petrobras to compete, including the world's largest FPSO tenants, such as Japan's Modec and Dutch company SBM Offshore NV. Petrobras, Modec and SBM have not yet spoken on the subject.
