Petrobras to reduce gas purchases from PetroRio and Enauta

Petrobras wants to reduce the volume of natural gas in the Manati field, located in Bahia. The state-owned company notified its partners, PetroRio and Enauta, about the intention to cut the contract.

According to information, Enauta confirmed that Petrobras claims force majeure, given the drop in demand for gas, energy and fuels in the Brazilian market amid the coronavirus crisis. "Enauta does not agree with the arguments presented in the notification and analyzes the alternatives it has to avoid and/or mitigate the risks that such a measure by Petrobras may entail in its business," the company said in a statement.

PetroRio has not yet spoken. However, according to the company's operating balance sheet, the Manati field had its production virtually suspended in March, with 30 barrels of oil equivalent (boe) produced per day. It is worth remembering that the company has only 10% of the asset.
