34 fields of land production of petroleum, located in the Potiguar Basin, in Rio Grande do Norte will have assignment of the participation of Petrobras, the board of Directors of the state approved the decision on November 27th and the closing of the transaction with the company Brazilian 3r Petroleum was carried out by the trifle of US $453.1 million.
According to the state, the 34 concessions are from mature fields in production for more 40 years, but in practically almost all wells, Petrobras currently has 100% of its public concession. Oil tankers and union movements criticize the decision to believe that the sale of concessions can accelerate the extinction of the oil industry in the state of Rio Grande do Norte.
The 3r Petroleum buyer will commence operations on the assets as soon as they close the transaction that is still going through the contract signing procedures, compliance with the present conditions set forth in the contract of purchase and sale, as well as approval of the National agency of petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP) and eventual right of preference.
