Petrobras will have to pay land tax in the port of Santos

The Supreme Court decided that Petrobras must pay the property tax (property tax and urban land) charged by the City of Santos for the land the state leased the city's port. The oil had filed the appeal to the non-payment of tax to claim that the site belongs to the Union and public space does not collect taxes to states and municipalities.

With the decision, despite being linked to Petrobras, the action is called general repercussion, thus ensuring to any state that seeks to profit and compete with other companies in the market. This is because, it was considered that public enterprises and joint stock companies operating in the market are subject to the same obligations of private companies on the civilian, commercial, labor and tax.
