Petrobras wins approval to acquire stake in Equinor

According to the publication in the Official Gazette of the Union on Wednesday (6), Petrobras received approval from the Administrative Council of Economic Defense (Cade) for the acquisition of slices of Equinor in two blocks for the exploration of oil and gas in the Espírito Santo Basin.

Previously, Equinor held a 40% share and acted as a leader and operator in partnership with Petrobras (40%) and Enauta. After the business, Petrobras will have 80% in both concessions.

The companies told Cade that the operations reduce Equinor's exposure to "geological and financial risk", while Petrobras "aims to increase its percentage in the concession, in which it sees geological merits".
