The Norwegian oil company Statoil stated, in a statement, that it has high expectations regarding offshore production in the Gulf of Mexico. According to Tore Loeseth, head of exploration for Statoil in the United States and Mexico, it is expected that U.S. offshore production virtually doubles at 2020, from the 60000 barrels per day recorded in 2016.
This is why the Nordic company resumed its exploration intentions in the Gulf of Mexico, presenting maximum bids for 13 offshore oil and gas concessions in deepwater areas.
Statoil believes in the offshore business, because it has been investing in several areas and fields, including Brazil, as already reported by Panorama Offshore (HTTP://MIGRE.ME/WIOM9).
