Portugal and Morocco sign energy and gas cooperation agreement

Morocco, a country located in the northwest corner of Africa is investing in the production of energy. They are expected about 40 million euros by 2030 in investments in the sector. Thinking about further expand the business area, the country signed an agreement with Portugal for cooperation in the power sector.

The goal of the partnership is to study synergies in the field of renewables, energy efficiency and transport networks. According to the Portuguese government, the new agreement will also study scenarios in the natural gas area, in view of the potential in the gas management in both countries.

Among the possibilities to be studied is the storage of natural gas held by Morocco in underground Sedge complex.
