Possible oil discoveries in South Africa are presented during the event

It would be South Africa the next hot spot for oil and gas? The question was brought to the public Finding East & Southern African Oil & Gas industry event, held on 23 February in London

Geoscientist team leader in seismic research provider, Dr. Anongporn Intawong, made a presentation on the possible giant discovery in the Outeniqua Basin, on the southern coast of Africa. He did not quantify the size of possible future discoveries, but reminded the audience that previous discoveries in the same basin yielded recoverable reserves of up to 314 million barrels of oil.

Potential giants findings could help South Africa to increase its gas program for energy. Many companies, including large and Total SA have acquired rights to explore the southern coast of Africa.
