Stations will have to publish fuel price composition

A decree of the Bolsonaro government will force the posts to disclose part of the composition of fuel prices in an accessible panel for consumers. The measure was published on Tuesday (23) in the Official Gazette (DOU).

The action had already been announced by the president last week and was a response to criticism about the rise in fuel prices – caused by the recurrent adjustments made by Petrobras. Retailers will have a period of 30 days to adjust to the measure, which will come into force at the end of the term.

The panel shall inform the regional average value of the fuel in the producer or importer; the reference price used for the ICMS collection and the tax amount; and the value of PIS/Cofins and Cide, both charged by the Union. Posts that practice promotional tariff linked to loyalty programs should also detail the promotional price, the actual price and value of the discount to consumers.
