Subsalt produced about 1.588 million barrels of oil in January

The production of pre-salt was a record in January 2017, totaling approximately 1.588 million oil equivalent barrels per day, exceeding the December 2016, when they were produced on average 1.571 million barrels of oil equivalent per day. The production, coming from 73 wells was approximately 1.276 million barrels of oil per day and 49.5 million cubic meters of natural gas per day, an increase of 1.1% over the previous month. The production of pre-salt accounted for 47% of total production in Brazil. The wells of the "pre-salt" are those whose production is carried out in the geological horizon called pre-salt fields located in the area defined in section IV of the caput of Article 2 of Law No. 12,351 / 2010.

In January 2017, oil production in Brazil totaled 2.687 million barrels per day (bbl / d). The volume represents an increase of 14.2% over the same month in 2016 and a decrease of 1.6% compared to the previous month. Already the natural gas production was 109.9 million cubic meters per day, exceeding by 13.1% the production of the same month in 2016. There was a decrease of 1.6% compared to the previous month. Total production of oil and natural gas in the country was approximately 3.378 million of barrels of oil equivalent per day.

The Lula field, in the Santos Basin, was the largest producer of oil and natural gas, producing on average 729,500 bbl / d of oil and 31.6 million cubic meters / day of natural gas. The production of Lula oil is the largest ever recorded by a field in Brazil, surpassing the previous record of the field itself in December 2016, which was 710,900 bbl / d.

The natural gas utilization in the month reached 96.1%. The gas flaring in January was 4.3 million cubic meters per day, a decrease of 1.5% compared to the previous month and an increase of 30.8% over the same month in 2016.

The offshore fields produced 94.9% oil and 80.4% of natural gas. The production took place in 8,521 wells, 746 sea and land 7,775. The fields operated by Petrobras produced 94.2% of the oil and natural gas.

Strait, in the Potiguar Basin, had the largest number of producing wells: 1,102. Marlim field in the Campos Basin, was the maritime field with the largest number of producing wells: 63.  The FPSO Petrobras 58, producing in the fields of Jubarte, Blue Whale, Dwarf Whale and Whale, produced by 13 wells connected to it, 199,200 boe / was of the UEP (Stationary Production Unit) with higher output . Although the report consider each Block Development Area BC-60 ( "Whale Park") individually, the Board Resolution No. 69/2014 of the ANP determined the unification of these areas to the Jubarte Field. However, due to arbitration and lawsuit filed, it will be given separate treatment for each development area until the completion of such processes.

Land mature basins (fields / long-term testing of the basins of Espirito Santo, Potiguar, Reconcavo, Sergipe and Alagoas) produced 141,600 boe / d and 115,400 bbl / d of oil and 4.2 million m³ / d of natural gas. Of this total, 136.5 thousand barrels of oil equivalent per day were produced by Petrobras and 5,000 boe / d by grants not operated by Petrobras, with 306 boe / d in Alagoas, 2,188 boe / d in Bahia, 64 boe / d in Holy spirit, 2,244 boe / d in Rio Grande do Norte and 234 boe / d in Sergipe.
