Presence of RD&I in the offshore branch

The concepts of Research, Development and Innovation (RD&I) are used by large companies and aim to innovate processes and encourage researches. Currently, large institutions in the offshore branch already use the method of RD&I.

The National Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels, for example, include in concession contracts for exploration and production of oil and natural gas, an item known as the “1% clause”. That clause determines that concessionaires invest in RD&I value equivalent to 1% of gross revenue generated by highly profitable fields or with large production volume. The amount collected is directly affected by the evolution of oil prices.

The ANP Technological Innovation Award represents innovation technology for the oil, natural gas and biofuels sector by research institutions accredited by the Agency.
