On Tuesday (29), the Minister of Mines and Energy, Bento Albuquerque, said that the privatization of Eletrobrás and approval of the gas framework are priorities of the portfolio. The speech took place at the opening event of the annual meeting of agents of the electricity sector. According to him, the privatization of the company will have special treatment in the National Energy Policy Council (CNPE).
The privatization bill of the state has been in progress since November last year, when it was forwarded to the National Congress by the government. It has faced resistance from the Senate, due to the company's strategic role in several regions of the country. Eletrobras is the largest entity in the energy sector in the country, representing 30% of power generation and 50% of transmission.
