Oil production in March totaled 2,550,000 barrels per day

Compared to the same period in 2016, oil production in Brazil in March had growth of 12.6%, totaling $2,550,000 barrels per day. But, compared to February, there was a fall of 4.7%. Natural gas also had an increase of 12.2% over the previous year, having been produced 101,300,000 cubic metres per day. The total production of oil and natural gas in the country was approximately 3,187,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day.

In the pre-salt layer, the production from wells was approximately 69 1.208 million barrels of oil per day and 46,250,000 cubic meters of natural gas. The subsalt production in March totaled about 1.499 million barrels of oil equivalent per day, and this number results in 47% of the total generated in Brazil.

The use of natural gas in the month reached 96.6%. The burning of gas in March was 3,500,000 cubic meters per day, a reduction of 12.4% compared to the previous month and 25.3% compared to the same month in 2016. The largest oil and gas producer was the Lula field in the Santos basin, producing on average 638,300 bbl/d of oil and m ³ 27,700,000/d of natural gas.

The maritime fields produced 94.9% 83.3% of the oil and natural gas. The production took place at 8,404 wells, marine and terrestrial being 806 7,598.
