Desalination program is carried out through solar energy in Fernando de Noronha

The undertaking of the company Pernambucana de Saneamento (Compesa) with the generation of photovoltaic solar energy, projects the desalination of water in Vila do Trinta, Fernando de Noronha. The forecast is that the project starts this month and aims to supply about 70% of the energy consumed from the equipment with solar energy.

The expectation is that two more solar energy reservoirs will be installed in Pernambuco, one in Olinda and the other in Santo Amaro, in the capital. Fernando de Noronha is an archipelago of the state and consists of 21 islands and is 545 km from Recife.

According to the resolutions of the national Agency of Electric Energy (aneel), this solar system will be connected to the power grid of Companhia Energetica de Pernambuco (CELPE) and can export the production exceeded or consume the energy.
