In 2019, Rio de Janeiro increased its participation in Brazilian oil and natural gas production. With an increase of 8.1% in compared to 2018, the state produced 3.559 million barrels equivalent per day (MMboe/d), totaling 1.299 billion barrels of oil equivalent. The numbers represent 71% of the total volume of production in the country. The data are from the Agency National Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP).
Soon after comes the state of São Paulo, with 409,77 thousand boe/d, a mark of 11.5%, followed by Espírito Santo 333,68 thousand boe/d, representing 9.4% of oil and natural gas production in the country.
