The Ten-year milestone of the first wind energy auction reflected great results. From there to here, Rio Grande do Norte, which had more projects contracted, billed around R $15 billion and conquered the position of the Country’s energy matrix. The region alone has a production of 30% of total wind capacity in Brazil.
Currently, the northeastern state has 151 parks installed, more than 1500 active wind turbines and, according to the National Operator of the Electric System (ONS), with the operation of two Copel parks in São Bento do Norte, reached 4 gigawatts of Productivity. As a new way of capturing this energy, Petrobras announced the implementation of the first wind plant in the sea, which will be installed at Polo Guamaré, on the North Coast, until 2022.
