Royalties: PL cedes 20% for disaster prevention

The national integration, Regional development and Amazon Committee approved the 10898/18 bill, which targets oil royalties resources for the prevention of natural disasters and the relief of affected populations. The text inserts devices into the petroleum law (9.478/97) and the pre-salt law (12.351/10).

The PL determines that at least 20% of royalties are applied in actions against natural disasters, such as prevention works, evacuation of areas of risk, reforestation of riverbanks and containment of slopes, among others. In addition, money should also be invested in the prevention of tragedies caused by the leakage of radioactive materials.

The proposal was approved and presented in the form of substitutive by Mr José Ricardo (PT-AM), who unified the projects and added the obligation to provide accounts of the monies received as a requirement for possible supplementary aid applications.
