Russian oil company wants to increase production in Iraqi Kurdistan

Gazprom Neft, the second biggest Russian oil company, announced that the company intends to increase by 17% the production of oil in Kurdistan, so to 220,000 tonnes per year.

The company spokesman said that despite the military action in Syria and Iraq, not oil company will freeze, but will increase the production in 2017. "I believe that production centres are well protected by security companies," said the spokesman.

The location where the three deposits (Halabja, Shakal and Garmian) operated by Gazprom is among the territories occupied by the Islamic State, the 50 km of the clashes. However, the Russian giant don't see risks in increasing production in the region
