Offshore sector can generate 12000 job vacancies this year from 2019

Good winds come back to blow for the oil and gas market professionals in Brazil. According to the Federation of Industry of the state of Rio de Janeiro (Firjan), the prospect is that at least 12000 new jobs should be created later this year. This does not count on the multiplier effect, since each job performed on platforms generates two indirect vacancies in land and support activities. That is, this number can be even greater than expected.

Only Petrobras intends to double its production until 2030, especially with investments in the pre-salt in Rio de Janeiro, and even there is already a lot of infrastructure being built in this area. Shell Brasil also intends to elevate its exploration and production activities in the country, which can generate new vacancies. In addition, two rounds of pre-salt auctions and two concession rounds are scheduled to take place by the end of the year.

According to Firjan’s data, there will be plenty of room for mid-and higher-level professionals, including management and administration sectors. In the state in Rio the prediction is that the municipalities of Macaé, Niterói, Angra dos Reis, Itaguaí and in the city of Rio there is plenty of opportunity. However, it is worth noting that in order to guarantee the vacancy, it is essential to invest in specialization and professional qualification.
