Federal state has higher profits in 8 years

The main Brazilian federal state companies recorded net income of R $74.3 billion in 2018, showing a growth of 132% compared to the previous year. As a result, payments made to the union also increased from 2017 to 2018, rising to 39% the number of repasses. This was the best result in eight years. The information is from Valor Economico newspaper.

The companies that obtained the highest growth were Petrobras, Eletrobras, Banco do Brasil, BNDES (National Bank for Economic and Social development), Banco do Nordeste and IRB Brazil. For the Secretary of Coordination and governance of State enterprises of the Ministry of Economics, Fernando Soares, the figures are the result of the privatizant effects adopted by the federal government on the sale of assets of the state. “Each has its specificity, but we have implemented a series of policies and measures to cut costs and increase efficiency and productivity,” he said.
