Total invests in good image after exploration rejection

Through the denial of exploitation in the areas of Foz do Amazonas by Ibama (Brazilian Institute of Environment and Renewable natural resources) The company Total started in the last week, a campaign aiming to improve the image of exploration projects in Region.

To maintain merit, the State Government sent a document to the press emphasizing its commitment to operate transparently and invited several NGOs to visit the exploration site. On October 22, the company had been authorized to send a drilling rig to French Guiana where it would start a drilling project 150 km from the coast.

However, contradicting the state, French environmentalists celebrated the rejection of the request, because the decision, according to the researcher of Greenpeace in France, Jean-François Julliard, is a great victory for the environment and for the Amazon Reef.
