Total suspends gas project in Mozambique

France's Total confirmed the suspension of the gas project in northeastern Mozambique. In its statement, released on Monday (26), the company states that the reason was a "force major"

It is important to note that the progress of the works and the execution of the project contracts were suspended earlier this month, after an extremist attack occurred in the country.

"Given the evolution of the security situation in the north of Cabo Delgado province in Mozambique, Total confirms the withdrawal of all employees of the Mozambique LNG project from the locality of Afungi," the company announced, and continued: "This situation leads Total, as operator of the Mozambique LNG project, to declare a reason for force-greater force," Total added.
