Total has announced that it intends to suspend the refining of oil in Paris and invest around 500 million euros (US$582 million) in renewable fuel production and bioplastics by 2024. The new plants will replace existing refining facilities.
The company's decision reflects the growing demand for energy and greener products, and is based on Total's commitment to reducing its exposure to hydrocarbons, as well as their carbon emissions. The communiqué was done on Thursday (24).
Thus, the refining of crude oil in Grandpuits-Bailly-Carrois, french locality, will be suspended until March 2023, and the storage of hydrocarbons are expected to be closed at the end of the same year.
