Transpetro will pay fine of R $2 mi per leak

According to the judicial decision of the 1st Federal Court of Caraguatatuba, Transpetro must pay a fine of R $2 million referring to the oil spill in one of the networks of the Almirante Barroso (Tebar) Terminal that occurred on April 2, 2013. The accident reached 11 beaches between São Sebastião and Caraguatatuba, São Paulo.

The amount that will be paid in the fine will go to the environmental organs of the beaches Deserta, Pontal da Cruz, trawler and cicadas in São Sebastião, São Paulo. At the time, the Federal Public Prosecutor’s Office (MPF) denounced the company for environmental damage, in response to Transpetro claimed that the event was the responsibility of the employees who made the day inspection.
