Gas Turbines assist in electrical system

A new technique of maintaining the electrical system in equilibrium is already being applied in the Country. The model under construction named as Porto de Sergipe I Thermoelectric Plant, located in the city of Barra dos Coqueiros (SE), uses an innovative technology to the natural gas turbine. The project is carried out by CELSE (Power Plants of Sergipe).

The method is accomplished by burning the fuel mixed with the air, which originates hot gases responsible for the movement of the turbine blades. In This way, it triggers the generator that releases steam, providing energy and, consequently, greater efficiency.

The method contributes to a more sustainable environment, since fuel emits about 90% less carbon dioxide in the atmosphere and is more effective in energy production if compared to renewable sources.
