Samarco leak affects Block Rio Doce

The Fundão dam, owned by mining company Samarco, which ruptured on November 5, 2015 still causes great damage to the entire affected area and, as could not be otherwise, also undermined economic activity of oil and natural gas in the District of the village, in the municipality of Linhares, Espírito Santo.

On the tailings mud that crossed the Rio Doce and reached the sea of Espirito Santo state, the national agency of petroleum, Natural gas and biofuels (ANP), considered the Village reservoir, and withdrew from the auction block Rio Doce which would be offered in may, in the fourth round of Marginal Deposits.

The Doce River block is located in the land area and has drilling wells since 1980. However, despite the rejection, the ANP reported that there are still areas included in the mosaic of the mouth of the Doce River, formed by the conservation unit, and, are within easy reach, as is this website reported.
