Wi-Fi on platforms brings benefits to the offshore world

Recently, the Ministry of Labor approved Regulatory Standard No. 37 (NR-37), which addresses safety and health issues in oil platforms. To the extent, Wi-Fi service on oil rigs will be mandatory, which will require high investments from operators.

The proposal can be very positive, since workers will be able to maintain greater contact with their families, softening anxiety and doubts about the situation of loved ones. In addition, the safety of these people who spend many days on the high seas increases. Within platforms there is very large control so that accidents do not occur, but with the measure there are more internal control mechanisms that reduce the chance of these unforeseen events to happen.

However, experts say that many studies will still be needed for the technology to be implemented, as this cannot affect boarding and disembarkation communications.
