Brazil leads Wind energy production

According to the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC), Brazil leads one of the most important positions in the wind generation ranking, together with Mexico and the United States. The total installed capacity in the Americas is 135 gigawatts, with a 12% increase compared to the year 2017.

This year, the country has already added about 2 GW of wind capacity to the energy matrix. According to information disclosed by the Secretary of Energy planning and Development of the Ministry of Mines and Energy, Reive Barros, the expectation is that the demand for this source will increase and that new installations are carried out between 2019 and 2023.

Totaling the yield of the three Americas, there was an increase of 12% in relation to 2017. North America, Canada and the USA totaled 10.8% last year and Latin America, added 18.7%.
