CNPE approves resolution regulating the sale of refineries

It was approved by the National Council of Energy Policy (CNPE) resolution that regulates the process of denationalization of the eight refineries of Petrobras that will be privatized, as announced by the oil company. In addition to regularizing, the measure aims to avoid the new verticalization of the market in order to bring greater plurality to the oil and gas sector.

The resolution determines that the concomitant disposal of refineries and their respective infrastructure assets used for inputs and own products should be transferred preferably to economic groups that do not operate in all segments of Oil and gas industry, in addition to banning Petrobras from maintaining corporate participation in the projects.

Recently, the state announced that it will put on sale 8 of 13 refineries, as a commercial strategy to heat the P&G sector by stimulating competitiveness, and to end the monopoly of Petrobras in the domestic market.
