This past week, petrochemical company Braskem announced the goal of making its operations carbon neutral by 2050. The project involves increasing the production of recycled products, reducing plastic waste and reducing greenhouse gases.
According to the company, in the next five years there should be an expansion of the portfolio of products certified with the I’m green seal, to include in the production 300,000 tons of thermoplastic resins and chemicals with recycled content. Between 2025 and 2030, the petrochemical company promises to reach 1 million tons of I’m green products produced.
Another initiative disclosed by the company is to ensure the proper disposal of waste from its production. The goal is to reach 2030 having avoided improper disposal or incineration of 1.5 million tons of plastic waste. In addition, Braskem also promises to reduce its GHG emissions by 15% by 2030.
