Northeast sets record in solar power generation

Data from the National Electric System Operator (ONS) showed that the Northeast region recorded a record in the generation of photovoltaic solar energy in the last week. Also according to the agency, this was the first record for solar power generation of the year.

In all, the Northeast produced 541 megawatts (MW) average per day, representing 4.6% of the total demand for electricity in the region. The last record for solar power generation had been recorded on April 3 last year, with 532 average MW.

The ONS forecast is that solar energy will reach the end of 2021 representing 2.3% of the Brazilian electricity matrix. It is noteworthy that the generation of this source is monitored by the Operator since September 2015.
