Oil already hits the second beach in Rio

It was confirmed on Tuesday (26), that Santa Clara is the second beach in the state of Rio de Janeiro to be hit by oil. The Group of Monitoring and Evaluation (GAA) formed by the Navy, National Agency of Petroleum (ANP) and the Brazilian Institute of the Environment and Resources Renewable NaturalS (IBAMA) disclosed that the residue found on the localized beach in São Francisco de Itabapoana (RJ) is compatible with what has already been found in the northeast and Espírito Santo.

Approximately 20 grams of the material were collected and analyzed at the Admiral Paulo Moreira Sea Study Institute (IEAPM), in Arraial do Cabo, which confirmed the origin of the oil.

According to gaa, Navy military and Ibama agents are already on site monitoring and so far, they have not been new traces of oil found in the state of Rio.
