Oil in NE: External commission goes to Pernambuco

The External Commission on oil spillage in the Northeast was, last Friday (8), in Pernambuco to monitor measures taken to contain the material and analyse the local situation.

“The oil spill on the northeastern coast brought losses that cannot yet be measured, both environmentally and Economic. On the other hand, the actions of the Executive Branch to contain this disaster are not taking effect,” says Congressman João Daniel (PT-SE), who together with Carlos Veras (PT-PE), proposed a request requesting the Commission’s visit to the state.

The number of locations affected by oil has reached 409, according to data released by the Brazilian Institute of the Environment and Renewable Natural Resources (IBAMA). In all, at least 104 municipalities of all the nine states of the Northeast were affected by fragments or stains of crude oil since August 30.
