Petrobras plans to reduce production time

Currently, the average time between oil discovery and the first deepwater extraction is 1,900 days. In a debate on the application of new technology and digital transformation in the oil and gas production chain during OTC Brasil 2019, Petrobras’ Executive Director of Exploration and Production, Carlos Alberto de Oliveira, said the state company aims to reduce for a thousand days this interval in deepwater projects in Brazil, including pre-salt.

The director stated that in addition to being a disruptive movement, the reduction of the deadline would also be a way to reduce costs in the cycle of production of wells. For him, the drop in the price of the barrel of oil from 2015 took a turn in the industry’s priorities.

“Now, with the drop in the price of the barrel, we need to be more Careful. We have a lot of technology and innovation that allow us this evolution in reduction of time and money,” said Carlos Alberto.
