Oil sector stands out in industrial GDP

Last Tuesday (3), IBGE (Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics) disclosed that the construction industries real estate and oil data stood out in gdp data (Domestic Product Gross) of the third quarter.

With an expansion of 12%, due to the increase in oil production which was record in the period, the extractive industry was the biggest highlight of the Quarter. In the last quarter, petrobras’ pre-salt exploration grew and the sector accounts for 65% of extractive activity.

“Although the manufacturing industry weighs more [54% of the total industry], extractive and construction, which represent 32% together, grew and more that offset this fall,” said Rebeca Palis, ibge quarterly accounts coordinator.
