Renovabio Sustainable program is praised by MME

Renovabio is a State policy instituted by Law No. 13.576/2017, which aims to expand the production of biofuels in the Brazilian energy matrix and ensure the strategic role in reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

For the Minister of Mines and Energy, Bento Albuquerque, the project is the largest in the world and contributes actively to environmental sustainability. “Today we have Renovabio, considered the largest biofuel program in the world, which contributes much to the decarbonization not only of Brazil, but of the planet as a whole, with high investments and very positive results.”, says the minister.

In the last week, the President of the Republic, Jair Bolsonaro, also celebrated through his Twitter profile the positive effects of Renovabio.

Among the objectives of the program, includes the increase of the biodiesel mixture (biodegradable fuel derived from renewable sources) in the diesel used in cargo and ride automobiles. In this way, the emission of pollutant gases would decrease considerably. From this month onwards, the mandatory percentage of biodiesel in Brazilian diesel rose from 10% to 11%.

Not only beneficial to the environment, the incentive to biofuels also reduces the country’s dependence on petroleum derivatives. In addition, they also incite competition in the supply of fuels, thus reducing prices for the consumer.
