2018 pre-salt round can raise R $3 bi

The Brazilian government can raise about R $3 billion reais with the 4th round of bidding for exploratory areas of petroleum and pre-salt gas, scheduled to happen in 2018. According to the Union's sources, the estimate is that the collection reaches the same levels of the recorded in the 2nd and 3rd rounds, held at the end of October this year.

The Offshore Panorama reported last week that the National Energy Policy Council (CNPE) defined that the fourth pre-salt round will happen on June 7, 2018 and will offer the blocks of three Marys, two brothers, Uirapuru, Saturn and Itaimbezinho, located in the basins of Campos and Santos, following the production-sharing model.

In the pre-salt rounds, which follow the production-sharing regime, the government raises money with an almost immediate payment of the auction signing bonuses and also with the profit oil, paid when the areas begin to produce. The signing bonus of the 4th round areas can be released next week.

The issue has already been forwarded to the Ministry of the Civil House, which should publish the details in the coming days. This year of 2017, union managed 6.15 billion reais with the two pre-salt auctions.
