Shell will have new specialized area for renewable energies

The renewable energy market tends to grow more and more. With this, to diversify its operations in the offshore sector, Shell Company intends to invest in renewable projects in Brazil with low carbon sources. The company created a new area called "new energies" that will be administered by Maria Gabriela da Rocha, former manager of First Solar, to evaluate possible investments.

During the event of the Brazilian Business Council for Sustainable Development (CEBDS) in São Paulo, Shell President André Araujo said the company has invested about US $3 billion a year in the new projects.

Araujo also assured that he still does not know when the first investment of Shell will be made, but "is with a strong team of new businesses seeking competitive projects that make sense".
