Supreme Court analyzes request to postpone royalty trial

Last Tuesday (27), after meeting with the governor of Rio de Janeiro, Cláudio Castro (PSC), the president of the Supreme Court (STF), Luiz Fux, announced that he can analyze the request to postpone the trial of actions related to the distribution of resources of oil royalties between states.

According to the president, the possible removal of the agenda of the five direct actions of unconstitutionality (ADIs) should go through the analysis of him and the rapporteur, Minister Carmen Lucia.

At the meeting, a request already made by the Government of Rio in November last year to hold a conciliation hearing on the actions was reiterated. At the time, Minister Carmen Lucia accepted the request and suspended the proceedings for 120 days. However, the hearing was not held due to the pandemic.

The president of the Legislative Assembly of RJ, Deputy André Ceciliano (PT), and the Attorney General of the State, Bruno Dubeux, were also present at the meeting.
